Comeback of High Technology Corded Telephones
I've seen a lot more corded phones on the shelves of shops recently and wondered if they are really making a comeback, and if they are, why?
Although it seems strange, a lot of these shops selling retro style corded phone seem to sell really good artificial plants, which got me thinking - why does every plant in my house have to be real?
Let's start with the corded phone, why would it be making a comeback? Well perhaps one reason is that it's a knee jerk reaction to all that is wireless floating around us at the moment.
The traditional corded telephone is an icon; it is the most well known form of communication around the globe and perhaps people want to feel properly connected again. Perhaps people are fed up of crackly lines and being bombarded with too many features to choose from, when all they want to do is make a phone call. I'll let you decide.
Let's move on to the artificial plants. There was a time when artificial plants for the home were tacky, they looked and felt like plastic, only the commercial grade of artificial plants looked the part and these of course were extremely expensive.
It now it seems that the technology has developed such that a realistic looking and feeling plant can be made at such a cost that puts it in reach of the public.
Now I don't think that we should all go out and ditch our real plants in lieu of fake plants that always look fantastic, don't need watering and won't grow to fill your entire room, but there may be certain situations where artificial plants really do provide a solution to a problem.
Take the apartment with a bathroom that doesn't have any windows in it. A plant in a bathroom looks beautiful but a real one would never survive without any light. A 'plastic' plant would do the job perfectly.
